Dining Review: Mix Moon Restaurant and Bar – New Lynn, Auckland

Last November 21, we went to Mix Moon Restaurant & Bar in New Lynn to have our weekly Wednesday dinner. Good thing my partner’s mom mentioned this to us because I’ve been wanting to try Southeast Asian cuisine for ages.

This is when you see when you come in

The restaurant’s beautiful food and drinks menu

I ordered Pho Bo, the most popular dish in Vietnam, which is a beef noodle soup with bean sprouts and basil leaves, with a side dish of more bean sprouts and a lemon wedge. The basil leaves were bigger than I expected, but it was a very delicious meal indeed. Perfect for those nights where you feel cold. There are two versions for this, the appetizer and main course, of which I chose the second. A very generous serving in a very nice big bowl.

My partner ordered Nasi Lemak, which is an aromatic coconut rice accompanied with vegetable curry, cucumber, hard boiled eggs, peanuts and anchovies with sambal sauce. He ordered a roti on the side. He chose it from the Vegetarian Menu.

My partner’s mom had Char Mee, which is stir-fried egg noodles with eggs, beansprouts and chives. She chose chicken to go with the dish.

My partner’s dad had Nasi Goreng, a Malaysian village-style fried rice with curry powder and vegetables. He chose seafood to go with the dish.

Overall, the meals were very delicious and the restaurant staff very attentive. We will come back again soon.
