I was invited by the owners of Axent Audio, Kelly and Penny Waterman, to enjoy a Christmas dinner with them at Mix Moon Restaurant last 19 December. I got excited as this was my second visit to the restaurant.
There were six of us on the table. I ordered a drink called Air Bandung, which is milk flavored with rose cordial syrup popular in Malaysia and Singapore. Although this drink is not to everyone’s taste, it is sweet.
Kelly and Penny brought a red and white wine (as the restaurant allows customers to bring their own wine for $5 per bottle), while the others ordered Tiger, Sapporo, and Speights Old Dark beers.
Now to our mains. I had Mango Chicken, chicken pieces covered in batter and stir fried with broccoli, sugar snap peas, and carrots in sweet mango chutney, with a side dish of crispy veggies. Penny recommended this dish to me.
Penny had her usual Char Mee dish, which is egg noodles stir fried with her choice of chicken, eggs, bean sprouts, and chives, with a sweet sauce I suspect was oyster sauce.
My partner Chris had Mamak Mee Goreng, a Malaysian-Indian style stir fried fresh egg noodles with tofu, potato, eggs and vegetables.
Sales representative Peter had Crying Tiger, a Thai style marinated sirloin steak grilled to perfection, accompanied with salad served with Nam Jeou sauce.
Kelly had Malay Curry Chicken, an aromatic Malaysian style boneless chicken curry and potatoes served with salad. He ordered a piece of roti on the side.
Mark, one of their contractors, had Masala, an Indian creamy curry with fish, vegetables and aromatic spices.
Wow, Mix Moon delivered superb meals and wonderful customer service! A must visit restaurant indeed!
